Wyndolyn Snell

Wyndolyn Lynn Snell, 49, (affectionately know as Wendy), went home to be with the Lord surrounded by her loving family Thursday, May 20th, 2010. She was born in Toledo, Ohio on October 20, 1960 to Grady Snell, Sr. and Nancy Hopson-Snell. She was a lifelong Toledo resident attending Toledo Public Schools where she attended Pickett Elementary and graduated from J.W. Scott High School. She attended University of Toledo graduating with a Bachelor of Business Administration. She subsequently attended Tiffin University graduating with a Master of Business of Administration. Wendy worked for Ohio Department of Taxation and Dana Corporation retiring on disability in 2009. She was a life long member of Phillip Temple CME Church. Wendy served as chairman of the Steward Board, Member of the Higher Dimension Mass Choir, Member of the Missionary Board, Member of the Youth & Adult Usher Board, Member of the Kitchen Committee, mentor and tutor of the Children & Youth Department, Director and mentor of Vacation Bible School, and a Delegate to the CME Annual District Conference. She became affiliated with the African American Women's Cancer Support Group shortly after she was diagnosed in 2006. Wendy was a very dedicated and committed person to what ever she under took with a strong faith. Her contributions to her church and organizations were endless. She was a Golden Life member of Delta Sigma Theta, Inc. for over 29 years. Where she served as past president - Beta Lambda Chapter, Primary Advisor - Beta Lambda Chapter, Secondary Advisor - Epsilon Omicron Chapter, past president - Toledo Alumnae Chapter, past treasurer, and past financial secretary along with being chairman and/or co-chairman of ever committee associated with the organization. Wendy was a member of Pride of Composite Chapter #81 - Order of the Eastern Star, La Paz Assembly #35 - Order of the Golden Circle, and The Girl Friends, Inc. She was also a mentor and tutor with Students Aiming of Excellent. Wendy was avid reader and a lover of books you could always find her reading. She enjoyed being around her family and entertaining in her home. Wendy loved traveling especially with her three sisters. Wendy was preceded in death by her grandmothers, Winnie Lee Hopson and Ella Mae Snell, and grandfathers, James C. Hopson and Otto Snell. Over the years, Wendy touched many lives with her unique brand of dedication, commitment. She always strove for excellence and her numerous abilities permeated her good works. Yet, she was able to touch you with kindness and warmth. Wendy's life was a race to do the most good for as many people as she could. She is lovingly survived by parents, mother, Nancy Hopson-Snell, father, Grady Snell Sr.; sisters, Pamela J. Snell (Michael), Glenda M. Snell-Bowman (Albert Jr.), all of Toledo, OH and Cynthia A. Snell of Southfield, MI; brother, Grady Snell Jr. (Marie) of Toledo, OH; Goddaughter, Reagan G. Royster; special aunts, Willa Mae Kynard (Wylie), Jamesetta Royster (Robert Sr.), Willie B. Purifoy , and Daisy Grace; nieces, MaKayla Avery, Octavia Snell, Vallie Bowman-English (Ian); nephews, Dante' Harrison II, Zachary Michael Fletcher, Grady Michael Snell III (Tierney), Albert Bowman III, Ausby Oliver, Otto Snell, Malik Snell, Nyheim Snell, Shamontae Snell, Ja'Lonta Price; great niece, Mia' Ashleigh Renea Snell, Great Nephew: Michael Grady Jordan Snell, Special Cousins: Regina Booker (Daniel Jr.), Crystal Kynard-Mackall (Keith Sr.), Wylie Jermaine Kynard (Kamilah), Robert J. Royster Jr. (Tammy), Roxanne J. Royster, Tassey Hawthorne (John), Netta Purifoy and Carol Grace, along with a host of cousins, relatives and friends that loves her dearly. Visitation will be Wednesday 3 - 6 p.m. followed by wake services 6 - 8 p.m. including Toledo Chapter of Girlfriends rites at 6:30 p.m., O.E.S. rites at 7:00 p.m. and Delta Sigma Theta Omega Omega services at 7:30 p.m. Dale-Riggs Funeral Home Chapel.
