Verna Dean Moore

Obituary for Mrs. Verna Dean (Lamb) Moore Verna departed this earthly life at her home for her eternal life with her Lord and Savior on Monday, November 14, 2022 at the age of 89. Verna was born February 5, 1933 to the union of Richard Sr. and Marcella Lamb in Macon, Mississippi. Verna relocated from Mississippi to Toledo as a teenager. She graduated from Jessup W. Scott in 1951. She attended the University of Toledo (Com Tech) where she obtained her Associate degree in Criminal Justice. Verna retired from the Child Study Institute (CSI) after 25+ years as a Girls Group Leader. After retirement she was a Foster Grandparent volunteer at Nathan Hale Elementary School. She was also an active member of the Neighborhood Block Watch program in the 1990’s. Verna was a past Worthy Matron of the Jewel Chapter #20 Order of the Eastern Star. Verna enjoyed going to the Frank J. Troy Senior Center activities. Verna was a woman with a strong belief in walking by faith and not by sight. Knowing that the Lord would make a way. And always answered her prayers. She read her bible daily for inspiration and enjoyed listening to gospel music. Verna joined Calvary Baptist Church upon arriving in Toledo. After marriage she joined Phillips Temple CME Church where she raised her children and grandchildren. Verna was a member of the Usher Board, Missionary Society and sang in the choir. Verna is currently a member of Worship Center. Verna was preceded in death by both parents, son: Darryl, sisters: Christine Sudduth, Bettie Nave, and Dorothy Lamb, brothers: Richard Jr., James and Edward Sr. Lamb and ex-husband George Moore Sr. father of her children. Verna leaves to affectionately cherish her memory children: Luzon Branham, Columbus, OH, Gwendolyn (Anthony) Browne, George Jr., Sheryl-caregiver, Errol, Columbus, OH, and Douglas, brothers: Clarence, Chester (Vesta), Toledo, OH, Eric (Patricia) Lamb Shuqualak MS, sisters: Elizabeth Metcalf, Grand Rapids MI, Vera (Levert) Gilliam, Centerville, IL, thirteen grandchildren, eighteen great grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends.
