Philistine Rivers

Philistine Rivers, 63, (affectionately known as "Phyllis"), went home to be with the Lord while surrounded by her loving family Wednesday, June 22, 2011. She was born in Holly Springs, Mississippi, on January 2, 1948, to Arthur and Julia Mae Milan. She grew up in Holland, Ohio and attended Spencer Sharples High School. She became a Health Unit Coordinator at St. Vincent Mercy Medical Center where she was employed for 41 years. Philistine was a very devoted Christian and her contributions to her church, friends and family were endless. She is most remembered for her compassion, honesty and sound advice that she provided to family and friends. She was virtuous, classy, spiritual woman. Over the years, she has touched the lives of many with her acts of kindness, dedication and calm demeanor. She was preceded in death by her step-father, Alfred; mother, Julia Mae Rivers and brothers, Terry Lee and Kevin Alan Rivers. Philistine is survived by her father, Arthur Milian, Sr., of Chicago, Illinois; daughter, Michelle Yvonne McCaster of Toledo, Ohio; her sons, William Jerry (Jackie) and Arthur Lamar (Tricia) McCaster of Cincinnati, Ohio; grandchildren, Debraylin, Jiebril Ashley, Arthur II, Christian, Destiny, Olivia and Madelyn; brothers, Eddie, Johnnie, Larnell (Joann), Darnell (Holly) and Bobbie (Dorothy) River, Toledo, Ohio, Arthur Milian Jr., Darryl, (Ruby) Anthony and Jerome Milian, Chicago, Illinois; half-brothers, Ernest Roy Derrico (Debra), Birmingham, Alabama, Jessie Wilder (Patricia), Chicago, IL; sisters, Mattie (Bertram) Snead, Houston, TX and Betty Ann Rivers, Phoenix, Arizona; half sister, Bobbie Jean Alexander, Byhalia, Mississippi; along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives, co-workers and friends that loved her dearly. Visitation will be held Friday, July 1, 2011, from 5-8:00 pm at Dale-Riggs Funeral Home, 572 Nebraska Ave., Toledo, Ohio, (419) 248-4254. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, July 2, 2011, at 11:00 am at St. James C.O.G.I.C, 3319 Nebraska Ave., Toledo, Ohio, (419) 537-9736. Interment will follow at Springfield Cemetery, 7260 Airport Highway, Holland, Ohio, (419) 865-0239.
