Nancy Hopson Snell

Nancy Hopson Snell was born June 7, 1937 in Corinth, Mississippi to the union of James Cleo and Winnie Lee Hopson. Nancy departed her life on Thursday, September 5, 2024 at Kingston of Sylvania Care Center. She was preceded in death by both parents, daughter Wyndolyn Lynn Snell, sister Jamesetta H. Royster, brother/cousin Joe Carroll and grandson Jaheim Snell. Nancy was a resident of Toledo, Ohio since the age of four year old. She attended Toledo Public Schools and graduated from Jesup W. Scott High School of class of 1955. Nancy also attended University of Toledo and Stautzenberger College. Nancy was joined in Holy matrimony in 1958 to Grady Snell Sr. (preceded in death) to this union five children were born, Pamela J. Snell, Wyndolyn L. Snell, Glenda Snell- Bowman, Grady Snell Jr. and Cynthia A. Snell. Nancy accepted Christ at early age and has been a faithful, dedicated, lifelong member of Phillips Temple Christian Methodist Episcopal Church and one of their oldest member. As a lifelong member Nancy was an active member of the Missionary Society and the Stewardess Board #2 to name a few groups. Nancy was employed for 35 years with the Lucas County Clerk of Courts retiring in July, 1999. She was also employed with the Toledo Building Service for 10 years retiring in 2009. Nancy was active member of the Pride of Composite Chapter #81 Order of the Eastern Star, Prince Hall Affiliation, La Paz Assembly #35, Order of the Golden Circle, Past Loyal Lady Ruler. She was also active in many Civic and Community related Organizations such as the Toledo Hyatt Allen America Legion Post #538, Toledo Elks, City of Toledo Community Service RSVP Program, Toledo Monday Bowling Team at the Monroe Bowling Alley and the Toledo City Wide Missionary Fellowship Society. Nancy was willing to extend herself at all times to family, church and friends. She leaves not to mourn but to cherish her memory, three daughters, Pamela J. Snell, Glenda M. Snell-Bowman both of Toledo, Ohio, Cynthia A. Snell of Southfield, Michigan; one son, Grady (Rosalind-Marie) Snell Jr. of Toledo, Ohio; God-daughter, Connie Dixon of Toledo, Ohio; sister, Willa Mae (Wylie) Kynard of Washington, DC; brother-in-law, Robert Royster Sr. of Toledo, Ohio; nieces, Roxanne (Montriese) Quinn, Crystal (Keith) MacKall, Regina Booker; nephews, Robert (Tammy) Royster Jr, Wylie Jermaine Kynard, Dwayne Martin; grand-children, Grady M (Ebony) Snell lll, Dante’ (Nadia) Harrison ll, Zachary Fletcher, Makayla Avery, Octavia Snell, Otto Snell, Nyheim Snell, Malik Snell, Shamontae Snell; great-grandchildren, Mia Ashleigh Renea Snell, Michael Grady Jordan Snell, Mariah LisaMae Snell, Kace Johnson, JaJuan Johnson, Maryam Harrison; special cousin Mae Sue Cummings along with a host of other relative and friends that love her dearly.
