Jo Ann Quinn

JoAnn Quinn was born March 27, 1949, in Toledo, Ohio, to the late Mr. Willie Coleman Harris Sr. and Mrs. Mary Lou Hunter Harris. She was the seventh of eight children born of this union. She departed this life on January 22, 2025, at St. Vincent Mercy Medical Center in Toledo, Ohio. JoAnn was a 1967 graduate of Jesup W. Scott High School. She completed a year of higher education at Davis College but left to help support her family. She accepted Christ at a young age at Calvary Missionary Baptist Church. JoAnn worked for the United States Postal Service for 35 years as a Clerk and retired in 2006. She and her daughter founded The Quinn Realty Group, LLC in 2004. She later worked and retired from Lott Industries as a Bus Monitor from 2008 to 2016. JoAnn was known in the community to be a strong advocate for young girls from troubled families. She opened up her home and became a Foster Care mother for the Lucas County Children Services. She worked with the agency for nearly 20 years to help provide guidance, a safe place and bring a consistent presence in the lives of the numerous of young girls who lived in her home. JoAnn loved her family unconditionally and repeatedly displayed this love by calling the entire tribe, regardless of how loose your connection may have been to her biologically or personally, together for family gatherings at her home. All those who knew JoAnn even in passing quickly developed an understanding that her eagerness to help was matched only by her willingness to help others. She was the personification of a reliable friend willing to sacrifice for anyone who needed her help. Although her love was often expressed through kind unlimited service to others in the present, she also displayed concern for her children and grandchildren by emphasizing education as it would serve them their entire lives. JoAnn not only advocated for education, she displayed its utility by later earning an Associate of Arts in Accounting. Indicative of her influence upon those who followed behind her closely, her son went forward and earned a Doctorate of Philosophy in Education, and her three grandchildren have either earned a higher education degree or are in the process of doing so. Those closest to her will remember the enjoyable times with her. Times that her immediate family fondly remember usually began with her declaring that “It’s summertime! It’s time for a trip.” Those trips were always eventful and memorable moments that have been imprinted into the hearts and memories of her loved ones. These trips included her foster children who was doing well in school. JoAnn leaves a legacy of love, generosity and kindness. We will miss her smile, presence, and strength. JoAnn was preceded in death by her parents; Willie C. and Mary L. Harris, twin sons; Joe Jr. and Johnathan Quinn, daughter; Angela Quinn, grandson; Antonio Johnson, brothers; Willie Jr., James, Sam, Herman Harris and Larry Kinnebrew. Sisters; Katherine Harris and Velma Lynn Mitchell. JoAnn leaves to cherish her memories, son; Dr. Anthony Quinn and daughter in "love” Brandi Quinn, grandchildren (her "Babies"); Braniya Quinn, Tamara Robinson and Anthony Braylin Quinn II, sister; Rosa Perry, special nieces; Addie (Ulyess Jr.) Williams and Debbie Harris, Special cousins; Robbie Tucker and Dea. Willie J. Tucker Jr., all of Toledo, Ohio and a host of loving family and friends.
