Bernard Oneil

Bernard “Boo” O’Neil, affectionately known as “Beeneez,” age 53, of Toledo, Ohio, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, August 29, 2025. He was born June 29, 1972, the beloved son of Frances Merriweather and Bernard Berry. Bernard was preceded in death by his parents, Frances (O’Neil) Merriweather and Bernard Berry; nephew, DeShawn Gott Sr.; uncles, Rodrick O’Neil and Anthony Reed Kent Berry and Jule Berry; grandparents, Hattie and Benny O’Neil; great-grandparents, Levi and Josephine Johnson; and his special aunt Frances “TeeTee” Mitchell and Sandra Jones. A proud graduate of Rogers High School, he worked various jobs throughout his life. His very first job was selling candy door to door for OET, a start that showed his drive and charm from a young age. He later worked at Burger King and Cedar Point, before discovering his true passion as a barber. While perfecting his craft he attended Toledo Barber College and moved on as a Master Barber at Fresh Cuts! Bernard had this smile that would just make you smile as he welcomed familiar faces into his presence. Despite his mental health challenges, he was able to maintain his level of service to his clients, proudly saying “crispy” when finishing a cut. “Boo” truly treasured time spent with family and friends. In his leisure, he enjoyed sipping energy drinks, listening to music, and relaxing with a Black & Mild-simple joys that reflected his easygoing spirit. He was a loving father and grandfather to his daughter, Linsey Milburn, and his 2 grandsons, Chase and Cusaan, who brought him immeasurable joy. He shared a close and unbreakable bond with his siblings, Danyelle Merriweather, Veronica Wells, and Veda Wright. Bernard also cherished a special relationship with Mr. Sanders. He leaves to cherish his memory, his daughter, Linsey Milburn, two grandsons, Chase and Cusaan, special aunts, Dorlla Oneil, Connie Julious and Barbara Smith, uncles, Frank Lyons and Daryl Berry, very special cousin, Taisha Oneil, Antonio Oneil, James Porter, special friends Corry and T. Folks, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends especially the “Southside” Buckingham Family who loved him dearly.
