Sharon Goldie Watson

December 2, 2016

Sharon Goldie Watson passed away in the early hours on the morning of December 2, 2016, at the Ann Arbor Michigan Heartland Care Facility. Sharon was the daughter of the late Frank C. and Cleo E. Goldie, with whom she traveled around the world. Sharon had a diverse career working in the education, TV/News, public affairs, and non-profit fields. She spent significant time teaching in the Chicago area schools. Education is a passion of the Goldie family and has included her mother, her cousins, and aunts pursuing careers in teaching. She also served as a news anchor and had key positions with American Express and the United Negro College Fund. She lived and worked in Illinois, Texas, Massachusetts and several other states over the course of her life. Sharon was a graduate of University of Toledo and also attended Fisk University, a member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Incorporated and was a member of All Saints Episcopal Church during her childhood years in Toledo, Ohio. She was a graduate of Scott High School where she excelled in various activities and organizations. She also participated in a variety of beauty pageants. She leaves to cherish cousins, Beverly Ann (Wayne) McKeller, Nicole Kendall Bishop, Michele Odette Poole, Jessica Goldie McKeller, Lt. Col. John D. Reynolds Jr., Kharma J. Turner and Wynter S. Urban. She is also survived by her aunt, Kandice Kendall and uncle, Robert J. Harris. Visitation will be from 10-11 a.m. Tuesday, January 3, 2017, at the Dale-Riggs Funeral Home, with funeral services immediately following at 11 a.m. entombment Ottawa Hills Memorial Park. Donations and tributes can be made to All Saints Episcopal Church Toledo Ohio, Scott High School, United Negro College Fund, Alpha Kappa Alpha Toledo Chapter and the Cleo and Frank Goldie Networking Opportunities Post Office Scholarship.
