Warnetta Hollie

Warnetta H. Hollie was born to Samuel W. and Jerline C. Davis on December 15, 1942, in Washington, PA, after a lengthy illness she departed this earthly life in Marietta, GA, on April 17, 2011. Warnetta's education took place in the Toledo Public Schools. Warnetta always had a thirst and love for the Lord at an early age. She accepted the Lord at First Church of God and later became a dedicated and diligent member of St. Philip Lutheran Church. There she held various positions throughout the church working with the children school, on the church council and financial board just to name a few. Always willing to give herself in whatever capacity needed. Warnetta met and married Charles T. Parkman in 1958 and gave birth to a daughter, Patricia. Although she wanted as many as 9 children that was not to be. She later married Michael J. Hollie and accepted her 3 step children, Joy Awes, Michael Hollie Jr. and Dawn Hollie as her own. Warnetta worked at many companies in Toledo such as Toledo Hospital, Toledo State Hospital, St. Vincent Hospital and United Business. She last worked at Office World before moving to Marietta, GA, where he worked for Airtouch (Verizon) Wireless in Atlanta, GA, in 1998. Although Warnetta was now living with her daughter and her family she learned her way around quickly, but it wasn't long before illness caused her to retire early. Through the illness, the good and bad days she always had a smile. She always made others needs more important than her own. Warnetta's life was lived in love. Caring on her memory in her heart is her daughter, Patricia (Earl) Howard; granddaughters, Likisha and Jessica; grandson, Cizmo (The Dog) Howard; her loving sisters, Beatrice (Joe, her special brother-in-law) Reynolds, Evelyn Ruffin, Sandra Davis, Jacqueline Davis and Yvonne Davis; brother, George Davis and special cousin, Florence Shenault. Her nieces and nephews that had a special place in her life and the many other relatives, friends and co-workers. She was preceded in death by her parents, Samuel W. and Jerline Davis; sister, Dorothy Smith and brother, Samuel Davis, Jr. The Howard family would like to extend their heartfelt appreciation to Warnetta's doctors and care giver, Dr. Chad Miller and the nurses at Georgia Lung. Also, the doctors, nurses and staff members at Wellstar Tranquility Hospice and Wellstar Kennestone Hospital. A special thanks to her home care CNA Robin Dorsey. Visitation will be Friday 3-6 p.m. Dale-Riggs Funeral Home Chapel. Wake services Saturday 1 p.m. followed by funeral service 2 p.m. at St. Philip Lutheran Church, Rev. Dr. Mark Hill, officiant. Interment will be private.
