Louisian Moore

Louisian W. Moore 78 passed away May 1, 2008 at Hospice of Northwest Ohio-Detroit Campus. Born in Rison, AR, she came to Toledo in 1943 and joined Ascension Lutheran Church. She worked in the church, in many ways including serving as Secretary and Treasurer and on the Relocation Committee. She was a volunteer at Lutheran Social Services, Rosa Morgan Senior Center and St. Martin de Porres Roman Catholic Church- After School Program and Toledo Hospital. Louisian joined Redeemer Lutheran Church seven years ago, where she remained until her passing. Louisian retired in 1988 from a career as an accountant. She worked for the City of Toledo, Taxation Department for 15 years and for various other businesses in the Toledo area in her early career. Louisian was an active and vibrant women. She was an avid golfer and a member of the Midwestern Golf Club, the Tee Town Swingers and the Bayview Retirees Golf Club. She also loved to bowl with the Thursday and Friday Young Senior Bowling League. She also loved to garden, sew and cook. Louisian was preceded in death by her parents Alonza and Febian Woods, eight sisters and two brothers. She leaves a devoted and loving family including her son George E. Moore, daughter Georgetta (Willie) Brown, two grandsons Darrick Davis and Vincent Moore, one granddaughter Deanna Smith, seven step grandchildren Stephanie, Robin, Lynn, Lacola, Wilene, Thomas (Lashonda) and Andrew (Rehana), seven great grandchildren Maryasha, Kristopher, Diontae, Ciara, Kayla, Tyler, William, cousin Troy Lee Smith, special niece Christine Crenshaw, special daughter Anna McCarver, best friends Theo Tucker, Leona Denton, and Susie Goosby and other relatives and friends. Visitation will be Thursday 4 – 7 p.m. Dale-Riggs Funeral Home Chapel, wake services Friday 11:00 a.m. followed by funeral services at 12:00 noon, Redeemer Lutheran Church 1702 Upton Avenue, Rev. Lori Strang officiant, interment Forest Cemetery. Special thanks to the doctors and nurses of both Hospice of Northwest Ohio and the fourth floor Oncology Department, especially Nurse Marcia at Toledo Hospital.
