Kenneth Jones

Kenneth E. Jones, Jr. was born August 25, 1972 in Toledo, Ohio to the union of Kenneth E. and Victoria L. Jones, Sr. Kenneth accepted Jesus Christ as his personal Savior at an early age. He was a 1991 graduate of Scott High School. During his years at Scott, he participated in several sports and was crowned “King” in 1990. He was also a member of the National Honor Society. He was an outstanding artist. He graduated high school with a scholarship in art to Tennessee State. Instead, he attended the University of Toledo. He chose to be a barber by profession, and was widely known as the “best barber in town.” Kenneth was affectionately called, “Ken” by his peers and friends. He had an “infectious” smile that lit up a room when he entered. His love and compassion for others went “beyond boundaries.” He was a friend to many. He and his dad were “best friends” with his dad being his best man at his wedding. He had a love for sports, being Defensive Back Coach for Rogers High School’s freshman team. He was also Head Basketball Coach at Old Orchard Elementary School, 2005-2006 and Assistant Basketball Coach at Keyser Elementary School, 2006-2007. He was also an avid Pittsburg Steelers fan. Kenneth married his friend and soul mate SharLonn “Nikki” Sturdivant Jones on June 30, 2007. This marriage for both was the fulfillment of their love. Kenneth was preceded in death by his grandmothers, Phyllis Logan and Mary B. Jones. He leaves to cherish his memories his loving wife and best friend, SharLonn “Nikki”Nichole Jones; daughters, Kennedi Oliver-Jones, Nautica Moore-Jones; sons, Jamahl Jones, Nekhi Sturdivant-Jones; parents, Kenneth E. and Victoria L. Jones, Sr.; Mother and father in law Donald and Mary Brown, Gregory and Denise Sturdivant, sister, Maria Jones; brothers, David A. Allen, Las Vegas, NV, Nathaniel E. (Patrice) Jones; sisters-in-law, Shamena S. King, Katrice (Daniel) Johnson, San Antonio, TX, Donita (Marcus) Dugar, Savannah, GA; brothers-in-law, Devon A. Sturdivant, Michael Morgan, Columbus, OH, special nieces Dearest Cook, Carrington Coleman, India Turner, special nephews, Quentin King, Jr. and Jaylon Jones, who he considered “his son”, and a host of many other relatives and friends. Wake Services will be Saturday 11:00 a.m. followed by funeral services at 12:00 noon Friendship Baptist Church, Bishop Duane C.
