Fannie B. Ivery

With deep love and gratitude, we celebrate the life of Fannie B. Ivery, born August 14, 1944, to Irma (Greene) Wilson and Murrell Ferrell. A woman whose heart knew no limits when it came to giving. On Oct. 27, 2025, surrounded by family and grace, she was called home, leaving behind a legacy of love, faith, and quiet strength that will forever guide those who knew her. Fannie accepted Christ at an early age and moved to Toledo from Birmingham, Alabama, at the age of 17. Her boldness and courage enabled her to build a life and career far from home. She joined Universal Community Church and later moved her membership to New Prospect Baptist Church. Fannie is currently a member of St. Paul Missionary Baptist Church. She graduated from the University of Toledo, and after thirty years of employment with Northwest Psychiatric Hospital, Fannie retired in August 2009 to spend more time with her family and become an Uber driver for her grandchildren. Fannie lived her life in service to others, not for recognition, but from a genuine spirit of compassion. She had a gift for making everyone feel seen, heard, and valued. Whether through home-cooked meals that she is famously known for, a comforting word, or a simple prayer that could bring you to your knees. She touched lives in ways words cannot capture. Her faith was her foundation, her family her joy, and her kindness her most remarkable testimony. Even in her most difficult moments, she gave her time, her smile, and her heart. She was a mother not just to her children, but to everyone who needed one. Although our hearts ache with her absence, we find peace knowing she is resting in eternal light, reunited with those who went before her, her late husband, Freddie J. Ivery; parents, Murrell Ferrell, Irma & Willie Wilson, and Walter Clepper; Godparents James & Wilma Harris, and Pastor Amos & Emily Alexander Sr.; siblings, Otis Greene, Isodore Smith, Barbara Banks, Francis Willis, Willie Wilson Jr., Larry Wilson, Bernard Wilson, Eugene Wilson, Dewight Wilson, Raymond Alexander, Patricia (Ernie) Friday Sr., & Janice Harris . Fannie’s last words would be “Heaven gained me, but you’ll always have my love“ and "This isn’t goodbye, just see you later.’ Fannie leaves to celebrate her life of victory to her children; Mark (Ronnell) Ferrell and Sharonda (Joseph) Diggins; granddaughters who were the light of her life, Marquila Ferrell, Jordan, Taylor, & Kaitlyn Diggins; bonus daughters, Vicki Ferrell, Lynn Hogan, and Celeste (Marvin) Davis; bonus sons, Richard (Debra) Hogan & Clyde (Monique) Hogan & Fredrick Ivery; siblings, Samuel (Barbara) Greene, Beverly Kelly, William (Delores) Clepper, Leicia Clepper, Dorthy Reynolds, Cynthia Jordan, Lee Morris Wilson, Byron Harris Sr., Butch Harris, Joseph (Georganne) Harris, Lillian (Charles) Coogler, Bonita (Anthony Edwards) Bonds, Delores Parks, Rev. Amos (Louann) Alexander Jr., and David (Gloria) Alexander); sister in law Jackie Smith; God-children, Valerie, Tonya, Tracy, & James Davis, Brent & Timothy Matthews, Kamiko Hodges and Dejanee Pettaway; and a host of nieces, nephews, family, and amazing friends.
