Cynthia Jean Cooper

Cynthia Jean Cooper departed this earthly life from St. Vincent Mercy Medical Center for her eternal life to be with the Lord on Thursday, December 1, 2022 at the age of 67. Cynthia was born October 13, 1955 to the union of Argusta and Marelen Cook (Glen Cooper natural father) in Toledo, Ohio. Cynthia matriculated in the halls of Warren, Robinson and then she graduated from Edward Drummond Libbey High School in 1973. While at Libbey HS, Cynthia was a member of the marching band & orchestra, she played the flute and piccolo. She also attended the University of Toledo while majoring in Special Education. In 1980, after marriage Cynthia relocated to Columbus, Ohio then to Massachusetts starting her career in healthcare. Cynthia was an extremely hard and faithful worker. Upon returning to Toledo, she continued her work serving the community through Harbor Behavioral Health. She was also an active member of The 2 through New Leaf Group (a women’s empowerment group) under the leadership of her cousin. Cynthia enjoyed going to the Jazz Festival in Detroit, Michigan and she truly enjoyed being with her family. Cynthia was a woman with a strong belief in walking by faith and not by sight. Knowing that the Lord would make a way. And always answered her prayers. She read her bible for inspiration and enjoyed supporting her cousin/nephew Rev. John Hicklin Sr. when he preached and/or sang. Cynthia was baptized at St. Paul Baptist Church around the age of 5 years old. While attending St. Paul BC she served as a member of the Usher Board during her younger years. Cynthia was preceded in death by her grandparents, John & Mary Murphy Sr., Glen & Theora Cooper Sr., Rev. Elijah “uncle George” & Elizabeth “aunt Jean” Hicklin, cousin Breyan Hunter and best friend JoAnn Motley. Cynthia leaves to affectionately cherish her memory her mother: Marelen Cook, uncle: John D. Murphy (both of Toledo), cousins: Katie Kemp (Massachusetts), Rev. Jenai Hicklin, Rev. John Hicklin Sr., Sarina Hicklin “nickname Sandy”, John Hicklin II “nickname Skipper”, Melissa (Murphy) Smith (Christopher) (all of Toledo), Monique (Murphy) Tripplett (Florida), Cecelia Cook (Toledo), Ralph Brookings (California), Bruce “Teddy” Curtis, Joretta Curtis (both of Dayton), Linda Gardner, Janet “DeeDee” Adams, Maxine Rose (all of Toledo), Daisy Fisher & Family (Toledo), Godchildren: Michael Motley (Columbus), Dr. Alicia Hill (California), LaShawn Staples (Toledo), best friends: Marla Oden, Yvette King (both of Toledo), special aunt: Janice Simmons (Dayton) and a host of other cousins, family & friends.
