Lygurthy Brown Williams, 98, returned to her heavenly home on April 22, 2020 after living a long and full life. Her devotion to her family and her firm belief in God supported her in her lifetime and ultimately gave her peace. She was born to the late James Brown & Charlie Malone, in Forest City, Arkansas on November 26, 1921. She was immersed in the Christian community that would be her lifelong support from an early age. She received her childhood education there. She attended night school in Toledo, Ohio. She was a chef at Maumee Yacht Club also at Brandywine. Later, Gurt retired from General Motors Hydromantic. Lygurthy was blessed with a large and loving family. She married Jefferson Williams who proceeded her in death on February 3, 1991. Gurt helped raise her five step-children along with her sons Pierre & Ernest with patience, discipline and humility. She often took them on family trips that allowed them to see life beyond their neighborhood. From the very beginning, she dedicated her children to God and encouraged them to explore the beauty of salvation. Mother Williams was the epitome of hospitality. She served men and women of God from all over the country in her home. She was also an event planner for Bishop’s and several Supervisor’s in the Church of God in Christ. She was a part of the Hospitality Department in the state of Ohio, where she served Bishop James gracefully and a greeter at Corner Stone Church, where she was a faithful member & loved her pastor, Bishop Michael Pitts. She will be forever known as a fabulous dresser and an amazing cook. She loved to shop, loved dress, loved to cook, loved her family & loved the loved the Lord. She was a person of integrity and straight forward in her speech. One of her favorite things was spending time with her sister “Mert” from San Diego. Honey, as she was also called, will be dearly missed by her loved ones, who celebrate the fact that she is at peace with her creator. Her favorite scripture was Psalm 91:1, He that dwelleth in the secret place shall abide under the shadow of the almighty. Lygurthy is survived by her sons Pierre (Alethea) Taylor, Ernest Taylor, and Sam Taylor; her sister, Lymerthy Hackley, & her children, who were like her own, Janice, Ricardo (Rick), Douglas (Doug), Robbie and Maria. She has a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins. She is preceded in death by her sister, Maria Hart; her brother, Joe Brown; brother in law, Archie Hackley; her parents; and her step-children, Charles Taylor, Larry Taylor, Betty Jean Connors, Earnestine Wiggins; her nephew, Dwight Hackley.
