Lillian Ethel Kyser " Big Mom"

Lillian Ethel Kyser, affectionately called “Big Mom”, was welcomed into the eternal love of god, thursday, march 2,2017, with family by her side. She was 94 years young. Born february 21, 1923 in Toledo, Ohio, to her late parents, Wilbur and HazelMarshall Having completed her secondary education in Toledo, Ohio, Big Mom met and married the love of her life, her soul mate of 77 years, Theodore Carl Kyser and together they raised their 14 children. She was a devoted and loving wife, mother, grand-mom, great-gran, and great-great-grandmother. Big Mom was a lifetime member having attended all Saints Episcopal Church for 90 years, beginning in 1927. She sang in the choir, was past president of the alter guild, had continuous membership in the Episcopal Church Women's Association and taught sunday school for a short period. She was an honorary life member of the Ohio Congress of Parents and Teachers, Inc., working as a ceramics instructor for the Toledo public school system. A member also of the AFL-CIO American Federation of state, county, and municipal employees for 45 years. She also enjoyed working the voting polls during election years. Lillian received a certificate of honor from the state of Ohio for her 70 years of service with the board of elections. She was a faithful member in the henrietta club which her mother, Hazel V. Marshall helped establish. In may of the year 1993 she was honored “Mother of the Year” by the Delta Sigma Theta Sorority. Lillian was preceded in death by both parents, her loving husband “Ted”, sons, Carlman, Carl, and Marshall (Butch) Kyser, brother, Wilbur B. Marshall, jr., and sister, Hazel Bowman. Lillian is survived, sadly missed and will always be loved by, sons, John (Ellie) Kyser, Phillip (Lisa) Kyser, and Robert Kyser; daughters, Margot Ewing-Battle, Kay Stclair, Carmen Cornett Collins, Lillian (Dee-Dee); Pegram,(Chester, Virginia) Beverly (Ronald) Jackson, Hazel Hollingsworth, Karen Floyd, and Lauren (Carl) Kyser; god- daughter, sandra j. Golds tick, (Dayton, Ohio); sister-in-law, Rowena, Marshall; and uncle, walter duffy (California), 39 grand children, with special mention of two jamie (orlando )Loyd and Randy Kyser whom ted and lillian helped raise, 70 great gran children, 21 great great grand children and a host of nieces, nephews; other family, and friends. The family wishes to extend our great appreciation to nurses-Nina, Marissa, and Casey, of St. Vincent's 3rd floor Heart Center also to Kayla & Nancy at Hospice of Northwest Ohio ; Detroit Ave. for their exceptional care of our loved one. Visitation will be Wednesday 5 - 8 p.m. Dale-Riggs Funeral Home, Inc., With family hour Thursday 11:00 a.m. followed by funeral services at 12:00 noon All Saint's Episcopal Church, 563 Pinewood Ave. Toledo, OH, Father Jeff Bunk celebrant, interment Historic Woodlawn Cemetery. www.dalefh.com .
