Gloria Watson Penn Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Gloria L. Watson Penn was born December 24, 1944, to Robert G. and Evelyn Clark Watson in Baldwyn, Mississippi. She made her transition from her earthly home February 23, 2015, at St. Vincent's-Mercy Medical Center. Gloria was preceded in death by her parents, brother, Randall C. Watson and niece, Kori M. Watson as well as Vivian Penn, Charles Penn, Sr. and Marilyn Penn. Gloria graduated with honors from Waite High School in 1962. She received her B.A. Degree from Lane College in Jackson, TN in 1966. She was a member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. Beta Chi Chapter at Lane. While working and raising two children, Gloria continued her education and earned her Master's Degree from Bowling Green State University. Having accepted Christ as her Lord and Savior, Gloria was a life-long member of Macedonia Missionary Baptist Church and was active as the President of the Trustee Board, a member of the Usher's Ministry and, at one time, a Choir Member. Gloria is survived by a loving family. Husband, Charles H. Penn; children, Khalil (Kareemah) Penn, Candace Penn and Marcus Penn; 13 grandchildren, brother, Robert G. (Dr. Baomi) Watson; and sister, Carolyn Watson; and a host of nieces, nephews, numerous cousins, and too many wonderful friends to name individually.Wake Services will be Sunday, March 6, 2016, between the hours of 2-6 p.m. at the Dale-Riggs Funeral Home. Family Hour will be Monday, March 7, 2016, at 12:00 p.m. and Funeral Services at 1:00 p.m. at the Macedonia Baptist Church located at 1501 South Cove Boulevard. Pastor C.L. Mayes, Officiant.
