Glendora Powell Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Glendora Powell, affectionately known as Dora, was born August 30,1943 to the union of Woodrow and Maggie Corbitt in Calhoun County, Mississippi. She departed this life on June 19, 2022, in Sylvania, Ohio. Dora was educated in the Calhoun County School System, graduating from Calhoun City High School in 1962. Upon graduation, Dora relocated to Toledo, Ohio where she worked at Sunrise Children’s Home and a family business, Russell’s Dry Cleaner. Also, during this time, Dora attended nursing school, earning her certificate as a License Practical Nurse. Over the years, Dora worked at Mercy Hospital, Parkview Hospital and Concord Care Center of Toledo, retiring in 2011. Dora accepted Christ at an early age where she attended Union Grove Missionary Baptist Church in Calhoun City, Mississippi. Later in life, Dora joined Indiana Missionary Baptist Church where she attended regularly until falling ill. Dora was preceded in death by both parents and her oldest sister, Bernice Flowers (Charles) of Chicago, Illinois. She is survived by her loving husband of 52 years, Joe Powell, sons Darnell Corbitt and Justin Powell, both of Toledo, Ohio, sister Maelene Chandler of Bruce, Mississippi, brother Robert Corbitt (Martha), of Toledo, Ohio, sisters Ruth Corbitt and Ruby (Billie Sr.) Gray, both of Fort Wayne, Indiana, brother Calvin Corbitt (Sue) of Toledo, Ohio, brother Larry Corbitt of Calhoun City, Mississippi, sister Margie (Jan) Scotland of Toledo, Ohio, Steve Corbitt, of Calhoun City, Mississippi and special friend Mary Edwards of Toledo, Ohio and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
