Gerald Dean Jones age sixty-nine, beloved husband, father, great-grandfather, grandfather, brother, uncle and cousin passed this life on Sunday, January 6, 2019, surrounded by family at Advanced Healthcare Center in Toledo, OH. Dean accepted Christ at an early age. He was a graduate of Scott High School where he participated in the wrestling team and later worked as a hall monitor. Once a Bulldog, Always a Bulldog! He also played baseball in his younger years. Dean was employed as a supervisor with Child Study Institute (CSI), Toledo, OH and retired after twenty-seven years of service. He served two years in the U.S. Army with a tour in Germany. He loved his wife and children more than anything on earth. He was preceded in death by both parents and 6 brothers. Surviving to carry on his legacy of love and kindness are his wife of 34 years, Leona Jones; daughters, Adina (David) Crenshaw, Tasha Jones, and Ayisha (Jeremy Boyd) Jones of Columbus, OH; son, Dean (AlQuita) Jones, of Memphis, TN; sisters, Ann King, of Las Vegas, NV, Barbara Jones-Wilson, Cora Jones and Tina (Timothy) Lawrence; foster sisters, Charvetta and Andrea Mitcham; sisters-in-law, Gloria Jones, Doris Jones, Victoria Jones; 3 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren. A host of loving nieces, nephews, and cousins. Special thanks to all of Deans caregivers especially those of Advanced Specialty Care, UTMCO and supportive neighbor and friend Joe Melvin. Funeral Services will be held Saturday, January 12, 2019 at the Friendship Baptist Church 10:00 a.m. wake followed by services at 11:00 a.m. Elder Tina Lawrence, Eulogist and Bishop Duane C.
