Valerie J. "Dolly" Swan of Toledo passed away peacefully on Sunday, May 6, 2012. She was born July 13, 1921, to Otis D. and Mary Etta (Blake) Swan in Toledo, Ohio. Valerie had various jobs throughout her life, LaSalle and Koch department stores, Broer-Freeman Jewelers, gift shop manager at Levey's Enterprise. She also did fashion modeling for a number of years in Detroit, MI, and fine art modeling at various colleges and artist clubs in the area. For a long time she was one of only two full time manicurist in Toledo. Valerie was the youngest and only daughter of ten children; her nine brothers preceded her in death along with her parents. Left to cherish her memory is her son, Gerald D. Swan Sr.; grandsons, Gerald D. Swan Jr., Joel D. (Djenaba) Swan; great-grandson, Aden E. Swan, nephew, Earnest P. (Queenie) Swan and ex daughter-in-law, Martha R. Swan, and a host of nieces, nephews other relatives and friends. Visitation will be 9:00-11:00 a.m. Friday followed by family hour 11:00 a.m. and funeral services 12 noon all at Dale-Riggs Funeral Home Chapel Rev. Floyd Smith Jr. officiant burial Forest Cemetery. www.dalefh.com
