Clanton Ellis, 69, passed away Thursday March 29, 2007 at Toledo Hospital. He was born in Lewisburg, N.C., to the union of James and Alice Ellis. He was a member of Warren A.M.E. Church. Clanton taught music and piano and he was a teacher for Toledo Public Schools. He was a graduate of Wilberforce University in 1963. Clanton was a member of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity and other numerous organizations. He was a former choir member and organist of Phillips Temple C.M.E. Church. He was a Jazz musician and he played for Mike Hollie Trio and various artists such as Jimmie Smith and Jack Mc Duff. In 1966-1970, he was the Director of programming and services for Brand Whitlock. He leaves to cherish his memory, 3 daughters, Stacee, Tracee, and Karen Ellis; their mother, Gwendolyn Stinson-Ellis; 5 grandchildren, Lance Ellis, Brandon and Kayla Lindsey and Gary and Nicholas Stewart; 2 great grandchildren, Ahmir Ellis and Bakari Sims; 2 sisters, Dorothy Scott and Bernice Thomas of Niagara Falls; 2 brothers, Eugene (Dorothy) Ellis of Niagara Falls and Millard Ellis of Buffalo, NY, along with a host of nieces, other relatives and friends. Omega Psi Phi Fraternity services will be Thursday 12:00 p.m. with memorial services 1:00 p.m. Warren A.M.E. Church, Rev. Otis J. Gordon pastor, interment private.
