Kim Renae Hughes was born October 26, 1955 to Edgar and Willa M. Hughes and passed away on February 14, 2007. She was a native of Toledo, Ohio. She graduated from Thomas A. DeVilbiss High School in 1973. She furthered her education and received and Associate Degree in Business Technology in 1975 from the University of Toledo Community and Technical College. She began her professional career at the Toledo Board of Education on February 7, 1977. Kim had an illustrious career with the Toledo Board of Education that spanned over thirty years. She excelled as a leader to the highest position of the non-teaching personnel as Secretary 4 in the Career Technology Department. Kim united with Friendship Full Gospel Baptist Church under the pastorate of Bishop Duane C. Tisdale in recent years. She was a committee member for the Naomi house and the Singles Ministry of FBC. She was a former member of the University of Toledo Gospel Choir and Unity Community Ensemble. Kim was preceded in death by her grandmothers, Arnedieth Lockhart and Martha M. Brown; grandfathers, Willy Barry and James Brown; uncles, Joseph Barry, Oliver H. Hughes and Carl Barry; and aunt, Yvonne Taylor. She leaves to celebrate her homegoing her loving parents, Edgar and Willa M. Hughes; brother, Darrell (Jackqueline) Hughes; nephew, Darrell J. (Kimberly) Hughes; great nephews, Kristian DeVon and Jaden Alexander Hughes; aunts, Odessa Carwell and Patricia Hughes; godson, Anthony J. Hughes; and special friend, Warren Hollingsworth. She is also survived by a host of cousins and special friends who include, Diane Hunter, Theresa Lucas, Ethel Miller, Jean “Sissy” Griffin, Larry Jones, and Derrick Roberts.
