Name:
Shirley Cole
Date of Death:
Feb 16, 2007
Location of Service:
Dale-Riggs Funeral Home - Toledo

In the early morning of February 16, 2007, Shirley D. Cole closed her eyes and went to be with the Lord. Our mother was a dynamic woman of honor, strength, and endurance. She endured a long illness and the Lord gently went into his garden and picked a beautiful rose and took her home. A native of Ullin, Illinois, and the only blessed child of the late Floyd Mitchell and the late Pauline Rogers, she was truly their pride and joy. She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Leonard L.C. Cole. Mom had various jobs, but she pursued her passion in her position as a Para professional with the Toledo Public Schools. She served faithfully over 28 wonderfully blessed years, pouring love, compassion, integrity and honor into the youth who crossed he path. She attended Robinson School and Scott High Schools. Mom loved to read, cook, listen to music, and spend time with each of her children and grandchildren. One special memory of our Mother is how she truly loved her children unconditionally. Each one of us have very special memories that we hold dear to our hearts. Growing up, she not only spoke life in the lives of her children, but she also took the time to mentor our friends. Over the years she has spent numerous hours empowering young men and women on how to live their lives respectfully, just one of her many gifts, and talents. There were many lessons all of us learned from sitting and listening to her wisdom. The memories are left to cherish by her loving children, Keith, Floyd, Jan (Chrispus), Paulette, stepsons, Wesley and David; Grandchildren, Keith, Candi, Janelle, Brandon, Nannette, Keiann, Keionn, Keietta, Keisonn, Eight great grandchildren, 1great great grandchild, Step-sister, Carolyn (Ronald) Holmes of Detroit, MI, Sister in law, Delores (George) Young, Aunts, Mozelle Rogers, and Ruth Johnson, Nephews, Ernest Johnson, Robert Johnson, William Stephens, Cousins, Brenda Mitchell, Betty, Victor, and Serena Mitchell. Special Sister Laura Roberts, Dear friends Ervin Bell, Florence Nalls, John Smilo, Ruth Whittle, Roosevelt and Daisy Potter, Erie and Rosetta Cowson, Eleanora Renee Heard, Debra West, God Daughters, Versia White and Wanda Tyler.
