Clarence J. and Genevieve Dale established Dale Funeral Home Inc. in 1947. Mr. and Mrs. Dale purchased the Wanzo Funeral Home, which was the first black funeral home in Toledo, Ohio. It has always been at the present location at 572 Nebraska Avenue, and is now a Toledo landmark with its striking Victorian architecture. The new chapel, which was constructed in 1989, features a 350+ capacity chapel, which is one of the largest in the city.

The Dale Funeral Home, Inc. has a long established reputation as an honest and ethical firm. The staff has been well trained and is proficient in the areas of funeral arranging, preparation of the deceased and directing funeral services. The Dale funeral services are known for being conducted with great dignity. Dale Funeral Home, Inc. is most proud of the compassion and kindness given to their families. The Dale Pre-need Program (which is planning and preparing final services before the death occurs) is handled in a very comprehensive, knowledgeable and compassionate way. The Dale Aftercare Program provides support and guidance for the family after a death has occurred.

The staff includes Sheryl A. Riggs Managing Director, who oversees all aspects of the firm and works with families in all areas, Carla L. Hodge directs the embalming and preparation services for the firm and John Stockard directs the pre-need services of the firm. Also, Nathaniel Williams handles office and service operations. There are also a full range of cremation services and free services for infants and low cost services for adults.

Most recently a new merchandising system has been added. Caskets, vaults, clothing, cremation, gift and keepsake items are presented in a new and tasteful manner. The chapel now includes a new card and gift area for the purchase of items for personal use or for the bereaved family.
