Cremation Alternatives
Once cremated, a loved one's cremains may be placed in an urn and taken to a final resting place such as a family plot, urn garden, columbarium or a family member's home. The cremated remains can also be placed in an urn, buried with a deceased relative or retained to be buried with another relative or for disposition at a later time. Cremated remains or cremains are sterile and sanitary so they can be kept at home without any danger to the public. Our funeral home will store them for you at no cost for disposition at a later time. We have the latest choices for care and final disposition of cremains; beautiful displays are now offered for the home.
Sometimes cremated remains can be divided into several smaller keepsake urns. This option works well when loved ones are in different locations around the country.
Others choose to have their ashes scattered in a special cemetery garden, over land or water (where permitted by law), or in a special place requested by the deceased. In this case, a portion of the cremated remains can kept in a keepsake urn with the family, as a remembrance.
If you choose cremation, a funeral service can still be appropriate. Survivors still need the time and setting to grieve. We offer many types of services specifically for cremations, from direct cremation with no casket present, to traditional cremation with a visitation/funeral service, procession and memorial service. Our selection of rental caskets or cremation caskets for services allow an alternative to casket purchase and burial following services.
